American Dreamer is a light-hearted situation comedy that aired in the U. S. in 1990-91 on NBC. The series stars Robert Urich as Tom Nash, a former high-powered network correspondent who decides to spend more time with his children after his wife’s death. In a quaint town in Wisconsin, he embraces a new life by writing a column for a Chicago newspaper. However, his editor Joe Baines repeatedly visits, believing him to be underutilized. The show’s unique element includes Tom occasionally breaking the fourth wall to engage with the viewers. Despite its quiet approach, the series was cancelled mid-season, but some episodes were rerun the following summer.
